Milo in the Sky

All I can hear is a voice inside me screaming RUN, and with my head exploding with panic and adrenalin, I bolt forward, my hands clutching the cold weight of the crossbar, my legs and heart pumping furiously. Within seconds I’m at the edge of the cliff, leaping as high and far as I can from the thousand-foot ledge.

Thus begins my debut novel, Milo in the Sky, with Milo launching his hang glider from atop the Na Pali cliffs to “clear his mind.” His marriage is on the rocks and finances have hit bottom. He and wife Addie live in a luxury home on Kauai that’s going into foreclosure.

But in his hang glider in the sky among the flocks of high-flying birds, and Milo half-wishes he could stay up there forever. But then a storm rushes in and he loses control. He finds himself careening toward the thousand foot cliffs where he crashes and ultimately ends up in a coma.

Yet in the coma, Milo experiences a beautiful and mind-blowing alternate reality where there is no pain, only love and connection.

Does he stay where he is… or does he go back to the difficult realities of human existence?
